Lack of intelligence contributing to casualties in J&K anti-terror ops

Security forces in Jammu region are facing challenges due to lack of human and signal intelligence, leading to higher casualties in counter-terror operations. Additional forces and technology deployment are underway to stabilize the situation. Local politics and encrypted communication are complicating efforts to combat terrorism. The Army’s shifting of specialised counter-insurgency troops, including the “Uniform Force” of the Rashtriya Rifles, from the region to eastern Ladakh after China’s multiple intrusions into eastern Ladakh in May 2020 has led to a major operational and intelligence gap there.
