What caused Utah’s iconic ‘Double Arch’ collapse

A geological structure in southern Utah, referred to as the “Double Arch” among other names, collapsed, as announced by National Park Service officials. Located within the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, park rangers suspect that fluctuating water levels and erosion may have contributed to the collapse. The arch, composed of Navajo sandstone, dates back approximately 190 million years.
