Bangladesh’s worst floods in decades leave 5 million stranded

Five million people in Bangladesh were stranded by severe floods in low-lying areas, with the death toll rising to 15. Strong currents washed away river embankments as five rivers faced the worst flooding since 2018. Eleven districts were affected, complicating rescue efforts significantly. The government rushed food and emergency supplies, opening 3,176 shelters.
