Pakistan govt accuses ISI ex-chief of political interference

Pakistan defence minister Khawaja Asif accused retired ISI chief Gen Faiz Hameed of political interference post-retirement, violating the Army Act. Hameed was arrested amidst speculations of his involvement in May 2023 riots linked to former PM Imran Khan. Hameed’s tenure had seen controversial actions, including detentions of political rivals and backing the Afghan Taliban’s rise.
