‘Excuse’: Ex-Pak skipper on Pandya’s captaincy snub claims

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif claims Hardik Pandya was stripped of India’s T20I captaincy due to fitness concerns, dismissing this as an excuse. Latif argued that many successful captains were not at peak fitness. Following Rohit Sharma’s T20 retirement, Suryakumar Yadav was named captain for the Sri Lanka tour by the BCCI. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar cited Yadav’s cricketing brain and fitness as key factors for his appointment. India’s tour of Sri Lanka starts on July 27 with a T20I series.
