Japan set to lift ‘megaquake’ warning

Japan lifted a week-old alert about a potential ‘megaquake’ that could cause enormous damage and casualties. The warning had led to panic buying and holiday cancellations. The Japan Meteorological Association issued the caution following a magnitude 7.1 quake. Despite lifting the alert, officials stressed the ongoing risk and urged regular preparedness checks.
