Beggar or tourist? Travellers to Gulf under strict scrutiny at airports in Pakistan

Reports indicated that 90% of detained beggars abroad were of Pakistani origin. Immigration staff have removed passengers from flights, while UAE authorities have begun rejecting visa applications from Pakistanis without sufficient funds to be deemed ‘genuine visitors.’
